The Community Support Division is led by Deputy Chief Andrea Munford. It consists of the Community Care Unit, Special Victims Unit, Investigations Unit, and Bias Incident Response Unit. The division also oversees the department's police social worker and case manager. The aim of the CSD is to provide trauma informed, inclusive and accessible service to MSU students, staff, faculty and visitors by leading with support and resources. The CSD recognizes that a supportive and collaborative community response will have the greatest impact in the life of an individual. CSD members work with community partners to continuously address the needs of individuals, connecting them with resources locally available. The Community Care Unit responds to reports of students, employees, or others on campus who have engaged in behavior indicating a possible threat of harm to self or other members of the community.

Michigan State University Police and Public Safety investigates all reports of crime that occur on property owned by the university or governed by the MSU Board of Trustees.
RVSM Commitment
Michigan State University has a policy that prohibits relationship violence and sexual misconduct, including sexual assault. The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) is responsible for investigation of policy violations, while the MSU Department of Police and Public Safety (DPPS) investigates criminal complaints which occur on campus.
