ID Access Control

Michigan State University has undertaken the installation of electronic access control in order to provide a safe and productive environment. The MSU Police and Public Safety Access Control Unit is responsible for the monitoring, design, implementation, maintenance and operation of the campus wide access control and security system.

Emergency Green Light Phones
Emergency phones, identified by a green light above the phone, are deployed outdoors throughout the MSU campus, indoors in residence halls and in selected classroom buildings. The phones feature one-touch 9-1-1 calling and selected locations include emergency speakers that can provide audible messages to the MSU community. Green light phones are managed.

Security & Fire Safety Report
At Michigan State University, safety is taken very seriously. Each member of the campus community should take an active role in preventing and reporting incidents that jeopardize safety on and around campus.

Fire Safety Training
The State of Michigan amended the Fire Prevention Code requires that institutions of higher education ensure that all instructional staff are trained in fire drill procedures before the beginning of each academic year.

Faculty & Student Emergency Preparedness Materials
