The Public Safety Operations Bureau is led by Public Safety Director John Prush. The bureau houses the Security Operations Center, Technology Services, Parking and Mobility, Guest Reception, and Facilities.

The Access Control Division is responsible for physical security, access control, and alarm monitoring for various buildings on campus.

Parking and Mobility Services maintains faculty, staff and student vehicle registrations, as well as parking services, including parking enforcement, impounds, and visitor parking.

Technology Services maintains the department’s information technology infrastructure to support all operations in the department.

The Traffic Engineering Unit oversees the installation, proper timing, and maintenance of traffic control devices; plans and directs the operation of traffic on streets within the boundaries of Michigan State University; establishes parking areas; and certifies the installation, removal, and/or authorization of traffic control devices and signs.

The MSU Police Security Operations Center (SOC) serves as a 24/7 center for campus safety, monitoring public safety security cameras and managing all physical security alarms across the university. Staffed by dedicated specialists, the SOC provides immediate, real-time intelligence and is the critical coordinator for rapid response, seamlessly bridging technology with MSU Police first responders and emergency services. Our unwavering commitment is to proactively safeguard all students, faculty, staff, and visitors by ensuring the integrity of our monitoring systems and rapidly disseminating essential campus alerts during elevated events. The Security Operation Center stands to reinforce a safe environment for the entire Spartan community.
