Michigan State University launches SafeMSU App download campaign
October 3, 2023
EAST LANSING, Mich. --- Michigan State University has launched a communications campaign to encourage the Spartan community to download the SafeMSU App. The campaign launched in September, which is also National Campus Safety Awareness Month.
Designed with input from students, faculty and staff, the SafeMSU App provides access to valuable safety resources directly to Spartan’s hands. The app includes emergency alerts, safe rides, and location sharing all in one place. As of Oct. 3, more than 18,000 people have downloaded the app.
As part of the communications campaign, advertisements for the SafeMSU App began running on Facebook and Instagram last month, interior and exterior displays have been placed on Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) buses throughout East Lansing, and digital billboard advertisements are being displayed in partnership with Adams Outdoor Advertising. The advertisements encourage community members to download the app.
“Our campus is a safer place when we all work together to advance a common, shared vision of what it means to be a community,” said Vice President and Chief Safety Officer Marlon Lynch. “This initiative is a direct result of the partnership and collaboration between our department and the students, faculty and staff which we serve.”
The app can be downloaded for free through the App Store and Google Play. For more information on the SafeMSU App, click here.
